Helping Homeless Families

The Shelter of Hope provides three different types of service to families in the Ashland area: Boyd & Greenup County residents only

  1. Residential Services
  2. Non-residential Services
  3. Case Management Services

The following is a guideline for providing these services to applicants.

Residential Services

Services provided by the Shelter of Hope for resident guests include the following:

Homelessness Prevention Services

Services provided by the Shelter of Hope for resident guests include the following:

To qualify for these services residential guests must meet the following requirements and complete the following:

  1. Applicants for residential services must complete a face-to-face application interview and sign a release of information form allowing the Shelter of Hope to do a background check of all family members.
  2. The family must be homeless in order to receive residential services.
  3. The family unit needs to have the ability to access low-income housing.
  4. If the family cannot access low-income housing, the family must demonstrate the ability to pay market rent for housing and utilities.
  5. An appropriate size unit must be available at the Shelter of Hope.
  6. Food and non-food supplies are available to Guest families. Required paperwork must be completed.
  7. Resident guests who are unemployed are required to assist the facilities coordinator with duties in the food pantry and around the shelter facilities.
  8. Resident guests are subject to random apartment inspections and must meet regularly with the shelter housing counselor to ensure that they are progressing towards finding permanent housing and overcoming any existing housing barriers such as unemployment, credit history, lack of identification etc.
  9. If guests fail to follow the guidelines outlined by the housing counselor in the guest agreement they may be asked to vacate the shelter premise at any time during their alloted time of stay.

Non-residential Services
